What is Laser Hair Removal?
With its multiple user-friendly features such as the powerful Cooling system, the rapid pulse rate( faster treatment speed), and superior results, BBLs is the most complete and versatile broadband light system in its class.
How does Laser Hair Reduction Work?
Laser Hair Reduction is a high-tech method for destroying massive amounts of hair follicles in their growth phase so that it gradually deteriorates the hair growth. The light energy is selectively absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles and converted to heat, diffusing to and injuring stem cells in the hair bulb and bulge. Effective hair reduction can only be achieved during the active growth phase and hair reduction is considered permanent when a significant amount of hair does not return for an extended period of time. After a series of treatments, most hair is permanently reduced. However, if hair does re-grow, it will be finer and lighter than before.
Which body areas can be treated?
For women the most common treatment areas are the underarms, bikini line, lip/chin, full legs, and lower arms. The most common treatment areas for men are the beard area, the shoulders and the back.
Who is the best candidate for Laser Hair Reduction treatments?
The best candidate for laser hair reduction would be someone with very light skin and dark body hair. Black and brown hair gets the quickest results because dark hair has more color Pigment that absorbs the laser light more readily, providing a more effective result.
On the other hand, people with white or blonde hair are not good candidates for Laser Hair reduction since white hair has insufficient color pigment for effective laser treatment. Therefore, it may be a good idea to have the laser hair reduction treatment completed before going gray or white!
How many treatment sessions are necessary?
An average client can expect to need three to six treatment sessions. The number of sessions is dependent on:
• Your hair color (darker hair requires less and lighter hair requires more sessions)
• Your skin pigmentation (darker skin requires more and lighter skin requires less sessions)
• Your hair density (coarse hair requires less and fine hair requires more sessions)
• Your hormonal status, and some medications (some medicines can increase hair growth)
Is the treatment painful?
Most people tolerate the treatment very well ; Some clients report a tingling sensation, or a slight pin-prick sensation. In general, the collective opinion is that the discomfort is significantly less painful than waxing, tweezing, razor burn or cuts from shaving.
What side effects can the treatment have?
Within about 30 minutes of treatment, the area may become pink or red, and feel similar to mild sunburn. Itching and dryness may also be noted. These reactions may last for a day or two and can be treated with proper lotions recommended by your laser provider.
All medications and medical conditions need to be discussed with the Laser Provider prior to the treatments.
What is PhotoFacial?
Photofacials, also known as photo-rejuvenation, IPL or BBL laser treatments, use light to mend the damage caused by the sun and aging. This proprietary treatment protocol consists of a series of Intense Pulsed Light treatments that improve the appearance of rosacea, flushing, sun damaged skin, age spots, skin texture and photo aging. If you seek a more even complexion, then PhotoFacial is the treatment you want. This treatment involves little or no downtime and you can resume normal activities immediately.
What areas can be treated?
Any area of the body can be treated. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight such as face, neck, back of hands, chest and shoulders.
How does the PhotoFacial treatment work?
An intense light is applied in a series of pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat impairs the vessel or lesion and the body begins its natural healing process.
The lesion will darken before it flakes off or is absorbed by the body. In addition, the heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking.
What is a PhotoFacial treatment like?
A PhotoFacial treatment may vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Most patients easily tolerate the procedure with no numbing creams. First, pre-treatments photos are taken in order to monitor the IPL progress after each treatment. Next, the area is cleansed and a thin layer of Ultrasound gel is applied, and your eyes will be protected with safety shields or metal goggles. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may briefly feel a warm or rubber band snap sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas.
Will it be uncomfortable?
Your PhotoFacial treatment is a gentle, noninvasive and safe procedure. You may briefly feel a warm or rubber band snap sensation during the treatment. Most patients easily tolerate the procedure with no numbing creams.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments that is needed varies from patient to patient. series of 3-5 sessions are typically recommended. During your initial consultation we will customize a treatment plan based on your desired level of improvement.
What should I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off . Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.
Are there any possible side effects of a PhotoFacial treatment?
Side effects of PhotoFacial treatments are rare. Immediately following a treatment, the skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker and capillaries may be more visible.
How should I prepare for my PhotoFacial treatment?
You will need to avoid UV exposure for 2 weeks before and after your treatment. An active tan from the sun or tanning beds is not appropriate. Tanned skin has a lot of pigment or melanin, which may also absorb the IPL light energy. Self-tanners must be faded from the skin for at least 14 days prior to treatment.
Who is not an appropriate candidate for PhotoFacials?
Photofacial is not indicated if patients :
-Have recently tanned skin.
-Patients who have an active fever blister on the face. (An anti-herpesmedication can be given, thus avoiding break outs).
-Taking Accutane currently, or for twelve months after stopping.
- Ethnic skin is NOT a candidate for Photofacial treatments due to the increased risk for permanent hyperpigmentation.
Most photosensitive medications such as antibioics, anti-anxiety, sulfa drugs, birth control pills and anti-hypertensive medications are not a contraindication.
Laser Skin Tightening
While laser skin tightening results may not be as dramatic as those of a face lift, patients enjoy moderate results with no downtime. An added benefit of laser skin tightening is that it is safe and effective for restoring a more firm, youthful appearance to skin all over the body Skin tightening treatment also encourages the growth of new collagen in the treated areas and promotes the absorption of more collagen from surrounding, untreated areas. With the regeneration of natural collagen, laser skin tightening patients immediately begin to notice smoother, softer skin and a more youthful appearance. The effects continue to improve over the next few months following laser skin tightening treatment, as the skin's natural stores of collagen are gradually replenished.
What to Expect During a Laser Skin Tightening Session
Before a skin tightening treatment session, it is important for a patient to remove all make-up, oils, sunscreens, and any other substances that may be on the skin. Then, the laser skin tightening practitioner will apply a topical anesthetic cream to the area to be treated and supply the patient with protective eyewear. Because of the non-ablative nature of laser skin tightening treatment, no further anesthetic should be needed, though patients who have a particularly low tolerance for discomfort may wish to take an over-the-counter pain medication prior to treatment.
Laser skin tightening takes place in the office of a cosmetic dermatologist or other highly trained skincare professional. During a laser skin tightening treatment session, the practitioner uses a handpiece to apply brief pulses of laser energy to the skin. A continuous burst of cool air from the laser will ensure the patients' comfort. Most laser skin tightening systems require the practitioner to go over the treatment area three times for optimal results. Sessions normally last from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the size and location of the area to be treated.
After a laser skin tightening treatment, patients are able to return immediately to work or other regular activities. Side effects are minimal, and may include a warm sensation to the skin, redness, or minor swelling. Side effects of a skin tightening treatment usually resolve themselves naturally within a few hours.
Is Skin Tightening Treatment Painful?
Laser skin tightening treatment should not be painful. Before treatment, the practitioner will smooth an anesthetic cream over the area to be affected in order to minimize the risk of any discomfort for the patient. Most patients who undergo skin tightening treatment experience only minor discomfort in the form of a heating sensation. This is usually eased by the regular cooling blasts of air produced by the laser skin tightening handpiece, which increases patient comfort and prevents the epidermis, or outer layer of skin, from burning. It is also fairly common for patients to experience a mild stinging sensation from the laser, which is most commonly compared to the sensation of a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Any discomfort encountered by patients during a laser skin tightening session should resolve itself within minutes of the treatment session, though patients may feel some warmth in the treated skin for up to 48 hours after treatment.
